Privacy Policy

CapReceipts is built around private receipt capture. We aim to keep receipt images, parsed fields, favorites, and notes on your device whenever possible.

What CapReceipts stores on device

Receipt images, sticker cutouts, structured receipt fields, favorites, notes, and local search indexes are primarily stored on your device. This data is used to make the app work for you.

What is sent to our backend

When you use cloud-powered OCR or AI asking features, CapReceipts sends only the request data needed to complete that action. This can include a receipt image for OCR, a compact structured receipt context for AI answers, device identifiers used for entitlement checks, and basic request metadata for abuse prevention.

What we log

To operate the service, we may store limited backend records such as anonymous device registration, subscription status, request payload summaries, model responses, and token usage. These logs help with billing, rate limiting, reliability, and support.

How AI requests are handled

OCR and AI features may use third-party model providers through our backend. We do not use your receipt content to create advertising profiles. We use the content only to provide the requested feature, operate the service, and monitor costs and abuse.

iCloud backups

If you enable iCloud device backup, receipt image files stored by CapReceipts may be included in your device backup according to your Apple settings.

Children’s privacy

CapReceipts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of CapReceipts after a change means the updated policy applies.
